The 2017 ST-Sim User Group meeting was held from November 28-30, 2017 at the U.S. Geological Survey’s Fort Collins Science Center. The event began with two days of training – including both introductory and advanced streams – followed by a third day of case study presentations by advanced users of ST-Sim. Below are video recordings of these case study presentations (each of which is 20-30 minutes long).

Adding continuous state variables to a state-and-transition simulation model: spatially-explicit carbon dynamics and land use/land cover change in Hawaii

Colin Daniel, Apex Resource Management Solutions

Linking ST-Sim dynamically to a fire behavior model to inform invasive species and fire management actions

Catherine Jarnevich, Invasive Species Science Branch, U.S. Geological Survey

Clustered ST-Sim: Selective simplification of spatial state-and-transition simulation models

Louis Provencher, Nevada Field Office, The Nature Conservancy

State-and-transition simulation models as integrators: Leveraging species distribution models, agent-based models, and scenario planning with ST-Sim

Brian Miller, North Central Climate Science Center, U.S. Geological Survey

Incorporating uncertainties due to climate change into projections of future rangeland condition

Matt Reeves, U.S. Forest Service & Leonardo Frid, Apex Resource Management Solutions

A fully-coupled state-and-transition simulation model with stocks and flows (STSM-SF) for estimating changes in land use/land cover and ecosystem carbon in California

Benjamin Sleeter, Western Geographic Science Center, U.S. Geological Survey
