Transitions - Target Prioritization

The Transitions - Target Prioritization property allows users to define how Transition Targets should be prioritized among strata and state classes over time across the landscape for certain Transition Groups. In order for this property to be useful there must be corresponding Transition Targets for the Transition Group being prioritized. The steps required to setup these values are typically as follows:

  1. Create a Transition Target for a Transition Group
  2. Decide how you would like that target to be prioritized. For example, you may chose to decide that specific state classes or strata should be prioritized for achieving that Transition Target.
  3. Create a set of records ordered according to priority with 1 being the highest priority. For example, you may have a number of records representing the different possible state class and stratum combinations along with their priority values. Note that if not all possible combinations are included, those combinations that are missing will be given the lowest priority.

The fields and options for Transition Targets property are:

Iteration (optional)

This value represents the iteration in which target priority is specified. The target priority continues through subsequent iterations until another Iteration value is encountered by the model for the same transition group in the same set of conditions, at which point the new values for priority area will be applied. If no iteration is specified, the priority will be applied across all iterations.

Timestep (optional)

This value represents the timestep in which target priority is specified. The target priority continues through time until another Timestep value is encountered by the model for the same transition group in the same set of conditions, at which point the new values for target priority will be applied. If no timestep is specified, the priority will be applied across all timesteps.

Transition Group

Represents the transition group for which target priorities are specified.

Primary Stratum (optional)

The stratum (Vegetation Type by default) for which the target priority applies. If no primary stratum is specified the priority is applied across all primary strata.

Secondary Stratum (optional)

The secondary stratum (Planning Zone by default) for which the target priority applies. If no secondary stratum is specified the target priority is applied across all secondary strata.

Tertiary Stratum (optional)

The tertiary stratum for which the target priority applies. If no tertiary stratum is specified the target priority is applied across all tertiary strata.

State Class (optional)

The state class for which the target priority applies. If no state class is specified the target priority is applied across all state classes.

Priority

The priority for the specified combination of strata, and state class. Note that smaller values, are higher priority.
